As of spring 2024 Flor Avelino and I have started collaborating on a new project and website called Alterotopia. The project is still in its early phases, but we can already share a teaser. It will take you to a single webpage you can scroll down, with various artworks along the way.

For the public performance event 'Dreaming in the Dark' I premiered my performative sculpture choreographies of (be)longing. The temporary sculpture of nearly 5m tall was also an integral part of the stage setting during the 3 day event Art Utopia Politics at BAK Utrecht.

Happy to share that my work has been selected for this years edition of BIG ART! The exhibit will take place on from the 27th-29th of September in the former Slotervaart hospital in Amsterdam.

Thrilled to take part in the Utopia * Art * Politics Sessions at BAK basis voor actuele kunst. The sessions bring together a diverse group of artist-researchers-practitioners. Together we will explore how artistic practices can foster radical imagination and enable alternative politics.

Thrilled to announce the Inaugural lecture of Prof. Dr. Flor Avelino on the Paradox of Power. My work will feature as an integral part of her presentation. The event and exhibition will take place on the 21st March 2024 in the Aula and Senaatszaal of the Academiegebouw in Utrecht.

A selection of my drawings and photographs will be part of the next edition of Counterbodies. Counterbodies is a serie of curated exhibits that bring together the work of artists who offer a distinct interpretation of the body as a thematic and visual source for research and experiment.

Door tekenen laten we sporen achter, ontdekken we en kijken we opnieuw. Dóórtekenend verhouden we ons tot lichaam en landschap, lichtval en lijn, stilte en storm, zeeën en tijd, troost en verdriet, aan-, en afwezigheid.

Together with Iris Frerichs and Maja Badnjevic, I am preparing an exhibition with drawings and mixed media work at ‘Werkpaard’: a raw and spacious exhibition space in the heart of Amsterdam. Join us there Saturday 10th or Sunday 11th of June!

On the 26th of April I had the pleasure of presenting my work and receive feedback during the final day of the 2022-2023 Drawing Inventions Academy. It was great to see and discuss the work of the other participants and I look forward to the exhibition we will have in the fall of 2023!

Impression of the opening of Our Roots Are Dark at NIFFO Galerie on the 19th of March

Our Roots Are Dark is the first solo exhibition to emerge out of my new studio practice ‘I am Seedling’. The exhibit will showcase a collection of large drawings in which the boundaries between drawing, photography, body and nature have been blurred.

Rotterdam premiere of the philosophical video essay ‘Als de Waarheid een heks was, kwam ze altijd boven water’ (23min, 2022). With an introduction by philosopher Tim de Mey, a reading by author Annelies Verbeke and a video performance in collaboration with musician Saartje van Camp.

As of September 28th I will be taking part in the Drawing Inventions Academy of 2022, a masterclass for contemporary drawing.

New project for this fall: ISVW fellow Tim de Meij has commissioned me to contribute to a philosophical video essay on the decline of truth by. Together with Saartje van Camp, Annelies Verbeke and Stephen de Graaff.

One studio opportunity missed turned out to be another one gained: a four month residency at Lange Hilleweg Studio’s! Sculptor Els Kingma has kindly granted me the use of her studio space while she is abroad in Italy.
