Paperweight - The Part That Carries, 2025, 60 x 80 cm, Giclee print on Hahnemuhle paper mounted on dibond

Paperweight series

The original meaning of the word paperweight is playfully inverted in a series of scenes and video works in which large sheets of paper are brought into different configurations and relations with the artist body. Evoking the weight of rocks and boulders in some, these same solid structures take flight as ephemeral dance partners in others. Entire mountain ranges can appear above the shoulders of the artist with just a few pins on the wall. A change in lighting might make them look instead like wings. Taken together the works in this collection reflect on the ambiguous nature of what we take and carry as given.
